Conure

Dusky conure

We have a new buddy that is very sweet. His name is Bandit. His owners surrendered him last week after having him for 12 years. Bandit is confused trying to adjust to the noise and activity of our home. He is eating and doesn't bite but he has not ventured out of his cage. I have had the door open for several hours this morning and he never even considered coming out. Maybe another day.

Dusky conure

There is a Bandit in our home! This week we were given a little green and grey bird, named Bandit, a Dusky Conure. He is small and very sweet. He has been cared for by a delightful couple for 12 years. It shows how much they loved him in his no biting acceptance of me. He is a welcome addition to the flock.

Cutty and Gabby

When the college bound girl tearfully left her "Cuddles" (A nanday conure) with me, it was agreed that it would be just until the end of the term and she had a new home to bring Cuddles to. I never saw her again. I had Cuddles sexed and changes his name to Cutty. He was a bitting, cage bound grouch. I really thought that he would be forced to change if moved into open flying space. Boy was I wrong. He hated the aviary, avoided all the other birds, found a hiding place and escaped the aviary. One day with no food or water and he landed on Jim to get back in the aviary.

Taz and Grace

Taz is a Mitred Conure, he is beautiful and bites very hard. A breeder or two had him but Taz wouldn't accept a mate. I am not a breeder, I gather any eggs that are laid so a none breeding beautiful bird was perfect for my aviary. Except that Taz has found a friend. Her name is Grace and she is an unknown hybrid of someone's creation. they have now retired to my aviary.

Wookie Woo and Tarzan

This is a love bird on the left and a sun conure on the right. Two different kind of birds, but now buddies for life. The sun conure, Wookie Woo was born with a deformed spine and hips, generally breeders put such babies down. But Wookie was lucky, he was born to Linda Kelly, a breeder that gives every bird a chance. Yes his spine is still twisted so he has trouble walking, but absolutely none flying. The little love bird was just another unwanted pet. His name is Tarzan. When the two birds were released into the aviary, they became fast friend.
